Your Giving Tuesday gift goes further than you think. I’m proof.

A Note From Our Founder

Every Giving Tuesday, we see a familiar wave wash across platforms where logos turn blue, timelines fill with donation links, and every organization speaks up on something they care about.

And for good reason. Giving Tuesday works.

But this year, I wanted to offer something a little different than the usual “please donate” post. I want to offer perspective from someone who has been on both sides of the story.

Because I'm proof that every donation, no matter how big or small, counts.

In the world of rare diseases, the smallest things often create the biggest change.

  • Fund a patient packet sent to someone newly diagnosed

  • Help a caregiver understand what their loved one is going through

  • Support educational content that finally gives a patient the words to explain their symptoms

  • Help keep the lights on for a foundation that becomes someone’s first lifeline

No amount is too small because no amount goes unnoticed.

Rare disease communities feel every ripple.

And I say that not as President of the Board for the International Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Foundation but as someone who lives with pemphigus.

When you donate, you may think you’re giving money.

But what you’re actually giving is:

  • Relief for someone who finally finds a doctor who understands

  • Clarity for a person who learns what’s happening in their own body

  • Connection for someone who realizes they’re not the only one

  • Hope for a patient who hasn’t felt it in a long time

These diseases are rare; however, the fear that comes with them is very real.

And when fear meets information, community, and support… things change.

That’s the part of Giving Tuesday you don’t see.

That’s the part your donations touch.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your contribution would matter, let me settle that:

It does.

It did for me, long before I became involved with the IPPF.

Support and education grounded me when I needed it most, and later inspired me to step into leadership so I could pay that forward.

And that’s why I champion this cause so fiercely, because I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of your kindness.

This Giving Tuesday, Give Wherever Your Heart Leads You, But If You Have Room…

… I’d be honored if you joined me in supporting the IPPF.

Every donation is tax-deductible.

Every dollar makes a meaningful difference.

And every gift, big or small, travels further than you think.

I’m living proof of that.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for choosing generosity today.
